Hull Family

The Hull family came from Belfast Ireland. The Hartford family was living in Deerfield, NH before coming to Rocks Village.

James Oakes (1825 Antrim, Ireland-1900) marries Elizabeth (Bessie or Betsy) A. Hull (1832 Ireland – ) in 1867. They are both living in West Newbury and purchase 7 River Road from Samuel Esterbrook (who is also living in W. Newbury at the time). William Hull (1846 Belfast Ireland – 1909) is living with them in 1870.

Joseph William and Sadie L. (Hartford) Hull owned 12 River Road from 1924 to 1945 and 15 Wharf Lane from 1944 to 1946. (Sadie’s probate: 220981, Joseph W. Probate: 220735

In 1920, John Houlker, Helen P. (Hull, Oakes) Houlker and Stella Oakes (Helen’s daughter) were living between Harold Germain (28 East Main) and Augustus Bragdon (34 East Main), then Joseph and Sadie (maybe 12 River Road or maybe 36 or 40 east main as they didn’t buy 12 River until 1924), then Charles Carr (20 River Road)

George Hull purchased 7 River Road in 1924 and lived there with several of his family members until he passed away in 1952. The house was passed onto his siblings and nieces and nephews when he died. William his brother bought it from his siblings and nephews and nieces in 1954 and willed it to is nephew Charles J. and Stella D. Hull in probate # 280900.

Charles J. Hull marries Stella D. Oakes (cousin through Helen) and had four children. They moved from 7 River Road to 595 East Broadway in 1948 and then to 710 East Broadway.

William Alexander Hull owned an Wood, Ice, and Vegetable business.

Thomas Jaques (xxx – 1859) s. of Parker and Catherine (Gage) Jaques, marries Sarah Hull could be Hall (xxx – xx) seamstress in 1844 in Bradford. d. of Samuel and Sally Hull. Isaac (1824 Lisburn, Ireland -1871 Ireland) marries Margaret (1865-1939) in xx

Joseph N. Hull (1859 Belfast, Ireland-1887) marries Lizze Floretta Orne (1860 Haverhill – 1935) in 1881. Lizzie was d. of Henry Sylvester and Mary J. Orne. It doesn’t look like Mary J and Henry were married. Lizzie lived with George and William in 1910, 1920 and 1930 at 7 River Road. She lived with her uncle Martin Orne in 1880 in the upper village.

Joseph Franklin Hull (2 June 1882 Haverhill-1939 gravestone) marries Sadie Estella Warner (1887 – 1968) in 1911 (Newton, NH). Joseph was drafted in 1917 and 1942. Sadie is adopted d. of Albert Warner and Carrie Melvina Chase (Native American ancestry). Sadie marries Mr. Adams 1st. Warren Stickney after Hull died. Sadie Hull (widowed) (1887 – 1968) living on Liberty Street in Merrimack in 1940 had a boarder of Warren Stickney. Living in Newton, NH in 1920 and 1930. Ended up on Brandy Brow Road.

George Herbert Adams (1904-1980) marries May Ellen Cook (x-x) in x. He was son of Sadie and xx Adams.

Charles J. Hull (1912 NH-1987 Haverhill) marries Stella D. Oaks (1917 – 1986) in xx. His first cousin, d. of Helen P. and Nelson Oakes.

Oakes (1851 Guilford, ME -1917 (potentially buried in Greenwood in Ramsey memorial for those less fortunate) Carpenter in 1916. s. of Nelson (Gardner) and Sarah Briggs Oakes. Listed as inmate at age 6 in 1900 with her mother Lizzie F., who was widowed in 1887, at the City Alms House. Nelson marries Mary C. Jameson first in W. Newbury. Helen marries 2) John Houlker (x-x) in 1919, 3) Manly Little (1873 – bf 1955) Listed on deed (4157/244) in 1955. Marries 4) xxx Johnbro (x-x) in xx.
