The Ramsay (Ramsey) family first come to Rocks Village in the early 1860s from Amesbury. Hannah G. (wife of Charles C.) purchases land (321/277) from John and Catherine Maynard on East Main Street/Colby lane in January of 1861 but sells it in April of 1861 to John R. Esterbrook.
The next piece of land Hannah G. purchases is tillage land in 1864 (671/56) at the corner of Amesbury Line Road, Merrimac Street (called Cross Road) and Old Amesbury Line Road. She continues to own this until she dies in 1901. Through deed 1675/311 in 1901, her son William Henry purchases it. In 1937 William’s estate sells it to his son Lewis (3122/577). When Lewis dies in 1950, the land goes to Winifred A. (Ball) Lancaster (his niece who is living with them in 1930). At this time, his wife and two other children have passed away. Winifred sells it to her cousins (daughters of George) Constance A. Ramsay and Sandra P. Ramsay (later Sterling) in 1951 (3857/584). In 1982 the land passes out of the Ramsay family via deed (7000/068). This land is now 24 Merrimac Road
In 1870, Hannah purchases 15 River Road and lives there until her death in 1900. Mrs H. Ramsey is paid for uniform by the Protector #3 fire station. This is around 1873.
William Henry Ramsey (Charles C. and Hannah’s son) owns many pieces of land in Rocks Village making up what is now 15 East Main 943 East Broadway all they way down to the Merrimac River.
- He buys land that becomes lots 10, 12, 13, 14 (Map 430 Block 7) from Lizzie R. Morse in 1894 for $125.87. (makes up most of 15 east main and down to the river)
- Part of 943 East Broadway a 1.5 acre parcel owned from 1869 to his death. Purchased from Sarah Jane Couch via deed 785/60.
- He bequeaths his land to his children in 1918 when he passes away and Florence and Frank Sutherland farm is on some of this land on East Broadway.

Byron and Annie Ramsay own what is now 274 Amesbury line Road from 1891 when they bought it from Thomas E. Quested (1317/957) to 1912 when they sold it to Frank P. Ham for $1.00 (2183/301).
Charles Bryron. and Ida M. Ramsey owned 15 Wharf lane along with Harry W. Colby from 1929 to 1932.
Charles Franklin Ramsey is living with Daniel H. Hall and Eliza in 1850 and listed as a shoemaker.
The Ramsey family is very active in the Protector No3 Fire Engine company.

Elizabeth is descended from William Sargent (1598-1606 England – 1675 Amesbury) who settled in west Amesbury and was buried at the “Ferry”.
